On the occasion of the International Women's Day 2011, the Embassy of Switzerland in Bangladesh and Alliance Francaise de Dhaka are organising a 10-day event to reflect on the key role of women in our society and their engagement in the development of Bangladesh. The event will feature an exhibition and seminar.
The exhibition titled, “Peace Women Across the Globe, Peace Women in Bangladesh” will be inaugurated tomorrow at La Galerie of Alliance Francaise de Dhaka. The exhibition will continue till March 19.
The exhibition will feature photos and short biographies of 1000 women representing more than 150 countries, including 16 candidates from Bangladesh, who had been collectively nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2005. This traveling exhibition has toured the world since 2005 in more than 60 countries.
In connection with the exhibition and in cooperation with the Bangladeshi nominees for the Nobel Peace Prize and the Department of Women and Gender Studies of the University of Dhaka, a daylong workshop on “Women and security: grassroots experience of 40 years”, will be held at the Senate Bhaban of the University of Dhaka on March 21.
