Japanese Spicy Chicken

As Bengali we like our food spicy. In fact sometimes we aren't satiated unless we've had something really hot and smouldering. But spiciness need not be restricted to our food alone. So here is a spicy recipes for those times when you want to cook up an alternative dinner and not your normal curries, but you stop yourself because you miss the spice.
Ingredients
- 8 chicken drumsticks
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup balsamic vinegar
- 1/3 cup soy sauce
- 2 1/2 tbs sugar
- 1 garlic clove
- Peeled and bruised
- 1 small hot chili pepper
- Slit open
- Seeds removed

Method
Place all ingredients in a saucepan over high heat. Bring to a boil, then simmer for 20 mins. Remove any scum that rises to the surface. Increase the heat, turning the drumsticks frequently in the sauce, and cook until the liquid has reduced to a sticky glaze. Arrange the chicken on a serving platter, remove the garlic clove and chili from the liquid, and spoon the glaze over.
