The government has selected a German firm as consultant for construction of single point mooring and pipeline in order to ensure smooth supply of imported crude fuel oil for Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC), official sources said.
BPC, country’s fuel oil importer, wants to construct a pipeline for collecting fuel oil from foreign mother vessels anchoring at deep sea to the Eastern Refinery Limited.
“We have already selected a German firm as consultant to construct the pipeline,” said a senior official of the energy division.
He also said that the construction would be completed within December 2012.
An energy division proposal in this regard will be placed at next cabinet committee on public purchase for approval.
As per the proposal, the M/s ILF Consulting Engineers of Germany has been selected as the lowest bidder among three international companies.
Other two companies are – M/s Intec Engineering of Malaysia and M/s Zeetech Engineering of Netherlands.
The total project cost for construction of single point mooring and pipeline will be Tk 9.54 billion and it will start from March, 2010 and will end December 2012.
Of this, Tk 478 million will finance from internal resources and the rest will be financed by Islamic Development Bank. BPC will invest Tk 20.5 million for construction of the pipeline.
The Executive Committee of National Economic Council (Ecnec) approved the energy division proposal in March 2010 for construction of pipe line.
