A comic with natural talent - Siddique

Whenever one thinks of a comic character on screen, the portrait that comes straight into mind is that of Siddique. For his humorous appearance on the screen, he has already carved a niche for himself in the country’s film industry and attained mass popularity in an instant.

From acting to direction, script writing to production—there is hardly any branch of media where he has not left his imprint.

Starting at the theatre, he moved into the realm of television and eventually established himself in the film industry.

Needless to say, Siddique won the hearts of millions with his unique acting skill in a number of TV plays and serials, including 420, Graduate, and Houseful, in which he played some special roles, which will be remembered by the viewers.

Recently, in an interview with daily sun, Siddique shares more about his life and career.
Siddique has faith in himself as an actor ‘full of fun’. About his acting, he says, “To make people laugh through acting is not an easy task. I always try hard to give my best. Sometimes, I share my ideas with my director and co-actors to make the role funnier.”
While speaking about his inspiration for acting, he says, “It’s my fans for whom I work relentlessly rather than for monetary issue. You know, I can hardly have spare time these days for taking rest or sleeping.”

Siddique, one of the busiest actors in the film industry, is now working for a number of TV plays and serials.

“Now I have a tight schedule for shooting. The current TV serials for which I am now working are Mostafa Kamal Raj’s Chander Nijer Kono Alo Nei and Mahfuz Ahmed’s Choita Pagol, Close Chapter, Amader Songsar, Nithua Patharey, Golla, Boyra Poribar, Naam-e Vari Jomidari, Cricket Rongo and Dhokabaz,” he says.

“When it comes to my single-episode TV plays, Tania Ahmed’s The ATM and M Shakhawat Hossain’s Social Network are worth mentioning,” Siddique adds.
“Apart from that, I am also working for a mainstream film titled Eito Jibon in which Nafiza, Emon and Nirob are my co-actors,” he adds.

Looking back on his early days, Siddique recalls, “After passing the HSC exam, I joined Theatre Arambag just out of curiosity.”
“Since then, I have a desire to work for a theatre troupe. In fact acting was something which I had no interest. However, direction used to attract me. In 2002, I took the job as an assistant director at Tarik Anam’s production house.”

“One day, Tarik Anam offered me a short role in one of his TV commercials. I accepted the offer and appeared on the screen for the first time in a TV commercial for chocolate.”
“However, in 2006, I played another short role in Diponkar Dipon’s play Roudro O Rodelar Golpo. But, in my acting career, the major leap was the role of Siddique in Houseful. The response and success that I received for playing that role was something that guided me to pursue my acting career in future,” he continues.

Apart from acting, Siddique is also an accomplished script-writer and director.
“I had a desire to work behind the camera—but it’s my luck that brought me in front of the camera. I have already written 22 scripts for TV plays. Of them, Kobi Bolechhen, Chhaiya Chhaiya and Hamba are the blockbusters.” he claims.

Making a film which will be full of entertainment is my final desire, Siddique concludes.
