Tarin to Release her First Music Album

Tarin's acting career, spanning 25 years, has made her a household name among TV viewers across the country. Her fans are in for a surprise this Pahela Boishakh: the accomplished actor is going to make her debut as a singer with her first solo album, “Akash Debo Kakey”.

“If my brother-in-law didn't egg me on constantly, asking me to work on and release the album, I probably wouldn't have managed to pull it off,” Tarin said about her debut album. “Although I had been very much into music and dance since childhood, I hadn't contemplated cutting an album. For one thing, managing a hectic acting schedule was enough for me. Music and dance practice were far out of my schedule.”

The actor-singer reminisced: “I was very young when I saw my sisters taking music lessons. My mother used to sing as well. An ustad used to come and train my sisters. I'd sit and watch them intently. And that is how my interest in music grew.”

“I took classical music lessons from Ustad Hasan Ekramullah for nearly four years. After that I became extremely busy with acting and couldn't devote my undivided attention to music lessons,” she said.

However, Tarin didn't detach herself from music. She had sung several times on Eid-special entertainment shows on TV. Talking about her first song on TV, she said, “The song (recorded in 2004) was written and composed by Kabir Bakul and Shawkat Ali Emon, respectively. I also sang a song written by Arun Chowdhury and composed by Bappa Majumdar, as well as a duet with Balam on ntv, two years back.”

When asked why she hadn't released the album earlier, Tarin said, “You just can't accomplish two demanding tasks at once. Besides, I am content with my recognition as an actor.”
Talking about her experiences of working on the album, she said, “I resumed music lessons when I decided to work on the album. The songs on the album were written by Zulfikar Russell.”

Her album “Akash Debo Kakey” includes ten solos and four duets -- with Ibrar Tipu, Rupankar, and Tapan Chowdhury.

The songs have been composed by Bappa Majumdar, Ibrar Tipu, Rupankar and Joy Sarkar.
How did she feel when she listened to her own songs? Tarin: “There's no such thing as complete satisfaction. I did wish I could go through the recording session again.”
