The 10-day book fair by Anyaprokash on the premises of Sufia Kamal National Public Library was inaugurated by popular writer Humayun Ahmed on 3 March. The book fair will continue till 12 March.
The programme was a well attended event. A large number of litterateurs of our country including Imdadul Huque Milon, Belal Chowdhury and Hasan Hafiz were present at the inaugural programme.
The litterateurs in their speeches wished Anyaprokash best of luck and recalled their memories of the publication house, recited poems and more. After that two street plays were staged at the venue.
Humayun Ahmed was accompanied by his wife Meher Afroz Shaon. The couple interacted with Ahmed’s die-hard fans and the huge crowd who gathered at the event — autograph seekers, book lovers and so on.
Speaking about the book fair, Mazharul Islam, the CEO of Anyaprokash says, “On the first day of the fair, we received a huge response from the book lovers. The response from the book-lovers has been very inspiring, for us as we look forward to hold more such fairs in the future. We have plans to hold book fairs in most of the major cities and universities.”
