Men’s Hair Care

Everyone knows how to shampoo, don’t they? Well, there’s shampooing and then there’s professional shampooing that gets results. First off, let's kill a common myth - regular shampooing DOES NOT increase hair loss. In fact the reverse is true; if you don’t shampoo regularly your hair follicles clog up with sebum and impurities – and clogged follicles mean inactive follicles. So, as long as you choose the right hair products, shampooing on a daily basis won't cause you any problems. Here are my suggestions…

Preparation
If you have long hair or very curly hair, use wide toothed comb to detangle them as much as possible before you wet your hair.

Wetting
Before applying shampoo, wet the hair thoroughly using warm water. If the water is too hot it will increase the release of the sebum; if it is too cold the shampoo wont’s penetrate properly.

Shampoo
At first, it is not possible to accurately say how much shampoo you’ll need to use, it depends on how much hair you’ve got to wash. Professional shampoos are more concentrated than super market “off the shelf” ones. So if you are moving up to salon shampoos from the super market variety, you are going to need less. Don’t expect professional salon shampoos to create a mass of bubbles either – that is just a detergent which is no good for your hair and is only put in the “off the shelf” shampoos as all the marketing people think that’s what you want!

Massaging
Make sure the shampoo is applied evenly all over your head, paying attention to the front hairline, nape and around the ears where hair tends to get the dirtiest, use the fingertips in a firm circular motion all around the scalp and continue for one to three minutes.

Rinsing
Firstly, for those of you who wash your hair in the bath, don’t expect to get a brilliant shine when you are rinsing in your own dirt. The most common cause of dull hair is inadequate rinsing, so rinse, rinse, rinse – and in clean warm water. Washing your hair in the shower is going to give you the best results.

Choosing the right conditioner
Choosing the right conditioner is very important to men. Men’s hair is naturally oilier and use of daily conditioner helps keep the scalp and hair clean. Maybe men are not that accustomed to using hair conditioners, but it gives your hair a much healthier look. It is more important to use conditioner, especially a moisturising one during cold weather, when all the stuff in the air and the low temperature make your hair more prone to dryness.
Today there is a lot of competition in the hair product market, so there are also a lot of misleading information. Some conditioners with exactly the same ingredients claim to have different properties. Of course companies' representatives will say that it depends on the amount of the ingredients. So, with all these choices, how to choose the right shampoo/conditioner?
My advice: Know your hair type and know what you are buying

Men’s hair style
Thinking about changing your look? Choosing your hair style is an important part of defining your look. Men’s hair style depend on two factors-
1. How comfortable you feel with it and
2. Your hair type
Age, personality, type of profession are also factors a hair stylist should keep in his/her mind while giving you a new style. My advice: Don't spoil the bowl of soup by trying to copy a celebrity; consult with a certified hairstylist.

Shaving tips and advice:
Shaving is an art and having the best products and resources at your fingertips is essential. You want to do everything you can to keep your face free of razor burns, ingrown hair and nicks. There are seven simple rules to get improved shaving results –
1. Shave in the shower: Shaving should be your final step before leaving the shower. The warm moisture of a shower makes hair soft and opens your pores.
2. Lubricate: A slick lubricating cushion allows shaving blades to glide without scraping.
3. Facial scrub: Helps to open pores, prime follicles and raise stubs for a closer shave.
4. Use a sharp blade: Discard shaving blades after four to five uses.
5. Avoid irritants: Avoid anything that tingles, stings or numbs during or after shaving.
6. Post-Trauma soothing: No alcohol. You need proven functional anti-inflammatory and pore-cleaning ingredients.
