The 10th Pune International Film Festival (PIFF) is to be held from January 12 to 19, 2012. More than 200 films from over 40 nations are scheduled to be screened. India's emphasis at this edition of PIFF is Germany. To celebrate 75 years of Indo-German relations, 47 films from Germany will be displayed at the event.
The highlights during the festival consist of presentation of the Lifetime Achievement and the SD Burman Award for creative music and sound, selection of best international (World), Marathi and International Marathi film, lectures, discussions and exhibitions on numerous film-related topics, and competitions under different sections.
Megastar Amitabh Bachchan will be honored along with legendary singer Asha Bhosle and actor Sachin Pilgaonkar. Amitabh Bachchan and Asha Bhosle will be awarded for their invaluable contribution to the Indian cinema. While Sachin Pilgaonkar will receive the honor for completing 50 years in the Indian film industry.
