“I have a strong desire for learning. I never shy of learning anything from anyone— be it modeling, anchoring, acting or even dancing,” says Nafiza in a conversation with daily sun recently.
Nafiza, the model-turned-actress, has been a well-known face with her vibrant appearances in TV plays.
Beginning her career on small screen, she has recently stepped into the realm of silver screen for the film Eito Jibon.
Nafiza Jahan, widely known as Nafiza, began her acting career in 2006 after her successful exposure to Lux-Channel i Superstar contest.
Looking back to her early days, she recalls, “I had no intention to take acting as my profession in my college days. But generally, the glamorous life of an actor used to attract me.”
“Success in the Lux-Channel i Superstar contest had really been something that rendered me the entire boost to walk into this way,” Nafiza adds.
While speaking about her participation in the Lux-Channel i Superstar Contest, she says, “On a sunny day in 2006, I went to the Bashundhara City for shopping with my mum. All of a sudden, we noticed that registration for Lux-Channel i Superstar contest was going on at Level-1 of the shopping mall.”
“Just out of curiosity, I registered my name for the contest. However, I could secure the 7th place in that contest finally.” .
“I can say that the success which I achieved in the Lux-Channel i Superstar contest had a big effect on me.”
About her journey to silver screen Nafiza says, “Offers for acting started coming to me right after the Lux-Channel i Superstar Contest.”
“I began my journey as an actress with Salauddin Lavlu’s TV play, Homeo Romeo where I played the role of a rural girl.”
“In 2007, I gained a huge popularity for a TV commercial on CityCell, a mobile phone operator.”
“But, when it comes to my breakthrough for acting, I would love to mention Mostafa Sarwar Faruki’s TV play Uposhonghar in 2008.”
“I think, the character that I played in this play was a major leap for my acting career.”
“The role I performed in 420, a TV serial, was an important step towards success.”
About her latest venture in film, she says, “Working in a mainstream film used to attract me most. Recently, I have started working for a commercial film, Eito Jibon, where my co-artistes are Emon, Nirob and Siddique. Having a wonderful story, the film, I think, will surely be a blockbuster.”
Nafiza is also busy making TV serials. She informs, “Apart from single-episode TV plays, I am now busy shooting for a few TV serials—Aruna Biswas’ Lorai, Amin Biswas’ No Problem, Dipankar Dipon’s All Rounder, SM Rana’s Not Out, S Sumon’s Out of Control and Raihan Khan’s Vagabond, among others.”
To conclude her conversation, Nafiza says, “Be it a big or small screen, it doesn’t matter. If I get a quality script, I’ll work.”
