Nirob: Eyeing the big screen

He reached the peak of fame in a very short time. Nirob who began his career as a model in 2004 is currently one of the busiest actors of the movie industry. He has acted in more than 25 films out of which 8 films have already been released.

Today we present our readers a conversation with Nirob.

Speaking about his debut in media Nirob says, “I had no intention of becoming a model or an actor, it was fate which had brought me here. I always wanted to become a pharmacist.”
“One day, one of my friends showed me his photographs. Seeing the photographs I became interested to have my own photographs taken and in a few days I did a photo session,” he adds.

“In 2004, I submitted a few photos for a model-hunt programme. I was utterly surprised when they called me up to participate. The title of the talent hunt was U Got D Look. I ended up amongst the top five. I became greatly inspired of this success and I took up ramp-modelling,” says Nirob.

“My stepping into the small screen happened in 2008 through a TVC of Nescafe Coffee. I also made appearances in the TVCs of Pepsodent, Aktel, Ruchi and so on.
However the turning point in my career happened when I acted in a TVC of Banglalink.” Informs Nirob.

“After the Banglalink TVC I received a number of offers to act in TV plays and films. Amitabh Reza during that time provided me with much needed motivation and inspiration.”

Speaking about his debut in the cinemas, Nirob says, “After my success in modelling, I became very busy with TV plays. One day two directors Shahin and Sumon approached me with an offer to act in the Bangla feature Mon Jekhane Hridoy Shekhane. I took the offer as the story line sounded different to me. When the film was released I received a very good response from my fans which motivated me greatly to push forward in this industry.”

When asked about the necessity of having a theatre background for a successful acting career, Nirob says, “For me, having a background in theatre was helpful but it should not be something which is mandatory.”

“We can see many talented actors who are doing very well without having any theatre experience at all. Acting is a natural talent,” says Nirob.

Commenting on his recent projects Nirob said “I am currently focusing in Bangla movies. Raja Surjo Kha(n), Atmadan, Tomar Majhe Ami and Tumi Ashbe Boley Bhalobashbe Boley are some of the movies in which I am featured as the protagonist against Purnima, Nipun, Apu Biswas and others.

When it comes to TVCs, I have become selective with them. Right now I am working in a few TVCs for Tibet and Botanic Aroma.”
